In Countdown Mode

Back in September, in the post A New Fixation, I shared with readers my new obsession: to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.

At the time I wrote that piece, a long wait of seven months lay before me.

As of this moment, however, the wait is down to seventeen days for the adventure to begin.

On Wednesday, March 25, ten Balboa Academy students, Erinn, and I will be boarding a flight that will take us directly from Panama to Madrid. There, a bus and our guide will be waiting to take us to Sarria, the starting point of our pilgrimage.

From Sarria, we will walk 115 kilometers (over 60 miles), through the provincial hills of Galicia toward the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela—our final destination.

This part of the journey will take us six days.

In preparation, we have been hiking every weekend for the last two months.

So, with 17 days to go, our shoes are now well broken in and our spirits are ready to begin.
